Report from the KFWG

A note to the KFWG from Edward Jardine on 31st January 2020 -

The clogged drain on Mill lane between the Mill House cottages and Bridge Farm was cleared out yesterday. Highways came with 8 men and partially and intermittently closed the lane off. I witnessed the extraction of a considerable amount of mud and rubble from the pipe leading from the road to the river, and in the pipe that runs along the roadway. The operation took about 2-3 hours. and the area is now freely draining.

Update on 'New problem discovered W/C 23rd December 2019"

Anglian Water managed to repair the leak on Tuesday the 21st January 2020.

New problem discovered W/C 23rd December 2019

On the 26th December 2019 water and a bad smell was noted in The Street coming from a manhole immediately adjacent to Low Road at the T-junction. This manhole was photographed on the 27th November and this can be seen below as Photograph 0. This situation was again noted on the 28th December 2019. Anglian Water responded well to calls to their emergency line (the first being on the 28th) and visited three times to investigate the problem (foul water from the manhole was flowing across the road into a road gully that drains eventually to the River Deben). To cut a long story short the offending manhole is now known to be an inspection chamber for the rising main that connects the pumping station to the Framlingham Water Treatment Works and the leak is from a cover to an inspection point on the pipe. Anglian Water are now pumping out this chamber on a daily basis whilst they determine their repair strategy. Further updates on this situation shall be given once further news is available.

In 2015 Anglian Water installed a rising (pumping) main from the Brandeston pumphouse directly to the Framlingham Water Treatment works so that foul water from Cretingham and Brandeston no longer came to the Kettleburgh Pumping station. This document is the details of what AW carried out. AW details of rising main from Brandeston to Framlingham.
The AW programme for these works is indicated in this document. AW programme details for the rising main from Brandeston to Framlingham.

This map shows the extent of the ESIDB responsibility in our local area. Following a meeting with the Operations Engineer (Suffolk) on Monday, 09 December 2019 he has offered to put a case to the ESIDB to make the watercourse that runs from the Easton-Brandeston road down to the River Deben an 'IDB Watercourse'. Their current ones are shown in blue on this map. If this were successful then the ESIDB would become responsible for this watercourse. ESIDB River Deben N map
